chopstick princess Vs. part-time sushi master
-manga stylie (screentone-zippertone-halftone.... whatever you wanna call it test) ---- I've been trying a few new things. one, is texturing and painting 3D model, and the other as you see here, is visiting my root in a whole new angle. one of my first published book zerostreet (slavelabor/amaze ink) was manga style comicbook, which was fully done manually, without any help of digiatal assistance. line art was done using ink, and shaded with screentone. here, i pretty much attempted the same thing in digital. lineart was done using painter8, then shaded with screentone pattern i designed using PSCS. Using PSCS, tone was applied exactly the way actual screentone films are applied. laying another identical pattern on top of each other to generate gradience in little tiny million baby dots. ahh the flashbacks.. of course getting it done in digital realm is much easier and cleaner, and its only mimicking the real medium just like anything else. but i tried hard to remain true to how manga artists approached their toning. erasing and sketching the tone pattern to create volume and shade between lines. i realize the line art is little rushed, but i was too excited putting this digital-screentone theory into action. i do now have my own, very soild recipe to duplicate this particular technique! this is a little gift art i made for Juji, who tend to have strange obsession with her chopstics. Oh...I read,, he is her personal chef!
Seee ya!
It's great to see talented artists explore new avenues to express their creativity. You have a masterful handle on both Painter and PSCS to know that you created the screentone pattern. Any chance of a tutorial?
THIS IS HOW A DEVIATION SHOULD BE!
A full and thorough explanation,
a great finished product,
and a link to some detail work.
I wish there were more deviants that treated this site like this. Again, you are a true diamond for this site.
